The short version: we withhold names and exact locations, we do not log contributor addresses, we strip metadata from uploads, and we record who takes the data.
The Afghanistan Human Rights Center (AHRC) is committed to protecting the privacy and security of everyone who interacts with our platform — especially victims, witnesses, and sources, whose safety is paramount.
We collect only the information necessary to fulfill our human-rights documentation and advocacy mission. Incident data published on this platform is aggregated from public news and channels. Entries a researcher has reviewed are marked verified; the rest are labelled “not yet verified” until they are. We work to keep personally identifying details of victims and sources out of what we publish, but entries that no person has reviewed yet have not had that check: if you see a detail that could identify someone, contact us and we will remove it promptly.
Partner accounts and data requests are used solely to provide access to our datasets and to respond to requests. We do not sell or share personal information with third parties.
