Summary
Taliban forces in Nawur district, Ghazni province arrested four civilians from Khawat and Gorg Koshteh villages on unsubstantiated weapon possession charges. The detainees were tortured and subsequently extorted: two were forced to pay money equivalent to two firearms for their release, while the other two were released on bail with a one-week ultimatum to hand over two weapons or an equivalent monetary sum. None of the individuals have a military background. Similar extortion incidents have previously been reported in Nawur, Jaghori, and Malistan districts.
